I often worry that things in my writing will tell the people close to me things that I don't really want them to know - sometimes, little bits of me do just slip in, unintentionally. I was talking about this on my blog the other day, oddly enough!

I study anthropology, and one of the problems with anthropological methods (fieldwork) is that it's pretty much impossible for an anthropologist to completely detach themselves from their own personality, upbringing and experiences, perceptions etc...and I think the same goes for writers. It's coming from you, so there must be some of you in it, even if it's down below the surface where no one will really notice.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432589953859933288.post-77188324539276170232011-06-15T22:24:38.860-04:002011-06-15T22:24:38.860-04:00True words, ralfast. I find myself thinking, "If I went through their lives, I think I'd be just like them."Dae Dreamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00145573291913964537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432589953859933288.post-1768125220769028012011-06-15T22:11:30.275-04:002011-06-15T22:11:30.275-04:00Your writing reflects who you are, your experience...Your writing reflects who you are, your experiences and outlook on life. The test comes when the characters peel off the page and take a life of their own. They are you but they are themselves: what you love, what you hate, what you wish to be.

Nothing wrong with that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
